For the past 5 months, a family that are very close with my family have poured their hearts and souls into renovating their new home. The mother, Amy, has spent hours there, sometimes going for 24 hours without sleep so that she could have this house ready so her and her two daughters Kendra and Marla could move in by the deadline from their old house. The buyers of their previous house had a very strict deadline.

Anyway, about a month ago, the family of three were about to move in, they had all their possesions on the first floor of the house, aside from an overnight bag they were using to stay with relatives while the finishing touches were being added. The weekend they were supposed to move in, the house caught on fire, and they lost everything. The only things they had left after were the things in the overnight bag. Amy lost the most however, considering as she was practically living in the house to begin with. All she had left were the clothes on her back.

One of Amy's daughters Kendra, is a very close friend of mine. She lost roughly 400.00 dollars worth of clothing, clothing she had bought herself, with her own hardearned money. She is an artist, although not part of DA, and all her paintings and art were also lost in the fire. It was hard for her to lose all of her clothing. Thanks to the help of local retailers, she has been able to re-establish some of her wardrobe, although it is sparse compared to how it used to be. She lost all her art supplies, and is attending a special art program next semester, with little to no supplies left.

Okay, so here comes the inevitable. What can I do to help?
She entered a contest called the Summer Style ELLE Canada Contest, and has been lucky enough to make it into the final twelve contenstants. The prize for winning is 750.00 Canadian dollars. All I'm asking you to do, is follow the link at the bottom of this journal, make an account and vote for her picture. If she were to win, she would be able to restore her entire wardrobe and buy all new supplies to restart her art collestion. She really deserves this, after everything that has happened to her, and I would love for nothing more then to see her win!

So come on guys! Help out a fellow artist, and extend to reaches of the DeviantART community beyond the internet! It would mean so much to her to know that she has fellow artists behind her!
